Gant Garrard - 100% Chicago Style EP (2001) |
Gant Garrard - 100% Chicago Style - 2001 - Riviera
Ahh yes, Riviera great label! Home to Stacy Kidd, Sebastien Leger and Paul Johnson, own by the legendry Fab G (Blackjack, Grand Prix). Gant Garrard might not be a name you've heard of but with tracks on Blackjack, Dust Traxx and of course Riviera, why not?
Arguabley more Chicago House than French House, this release is funky as fuck! Looped but interesting is the best way to describe this. It's all about the groove and feeling of the song with clevely placed filters and kicks that come in and out of the mix.
I'll post another vinyl release of his perhaps in the new year.

Thanks guys! This is Gant Garrard aka Gant-Man, house and juke music pioneer from Chicago. I will be back with some "french house" style tracks real soon. I call the disco dubs Chicago style but it was popularized in France. Rivera, Crydamoure and Fiat Lux were my favorite labels of French house. I had some of the best time in France playing parties all over sud de France and Paris with Paul Johnson. My first time leaving the United States was in Jan. 1998 and the first place I went to was Paris. I opened for Paul Johnson at Le Queen for a night called "Respect". I also played at Gibus and opened for Bob Sinclair. 2 of my best memories in Paris. FRENCH HOUSE NEVER DIES! I like you tracks too Louis. I heard your Peach EP and flipped!! Good stuff! You brought back French house!!!!!!
